1.Fish -1 kg
2.Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp
3.Chilly powder -1 tsp
4.Biryani masala -5 tsp
5.Fish fry masala -1 tsp
6.Lime juice - 2 lime
7.Salt -as required
8.Ginger paste-1 tsp
9.Garlic paste-1 tsp
10.Rice-as required
11.Coriander leaves- a bunch
12.Mint leaves - a bunch
13.Yogurt -1 cup
14.Fried onion -3 cups
15.Oil -to deep fry
16.Cashew -as required to garnish
17.Raisins -as required to garnish
18.Beans - 1 cup
19.Carrot -1 cup
20.Green peas -1 cup
Preparation
1.Cut fish in to cubes
2.Marinate the fish with 1tsp chilly powder,1/4 tsp turmeric powder,1 tsp biryani masala,1 tsp fish fry masala,1/2 tsp oil,1/4 tsp lime juice and salt.Keep it aside for 20-30 minutes.
3.Chop up the vegetables in to small pieces [If you don't like adding vegetables to biryani,you can skip this step.But I prefer to add it..Always try to add at least one veggie to all your dishes ]
4.Heat oil in a pan and fry the cashew ,raisins , vegetables and keep aside.
5.Now, shallow fry the fish pieces
[Tip1 : Before you fry the fish, when the oil is hot, put some curry leaves (5-8 leaves) and put fish pieces on top of that.The curry leaves add a different kind of a flavor to the fried fish and also prevent the fish from burning.
Tip2:To reduce the use of oil,add some coconut milk on top of the fish.]
7.Add 1 cup of yogurt,2-3 tsp biryani masala,1 handful chopped mint leaves,1 handful chopped coriander leaves,1tsp ginger garlic paste,3 green chilies,lemon juice and saute well..Finally add 2 cups of fried onion , the fried vegetables ,cashew and raisins.Mix well.
8.Pour half of this gravy over the fried fish.
[Tip: Add 2 cup water for 1 cup rice]
11.Add the rice to the boiled water [If you want to cook the rice fast,soak it for around 25 minutes]
12.When the rice is ready,add it to the already prepared masala on step 7 and mix well.
13.Add the fish and fried onion.Spread evenly.Add saffron.
14.If you need more gravy ,add some coconut milk and stir well in a low flame.Switch off the flame.
15.Garnish with coriander leaves
16.Cover the tray and bake for 10 minutes
17.Serve hot with raita.
